I tried firefox and it doesn't work either. What I have done in the past where this sort of conflict exists is to fit a second network card to the system and to set them up differently.

I checked my Mac book and of course no problems whatsoever.. Finally I disabled the ethernet connection. This disabled the internet connection for a few seconds and then restarted the service.
